THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
Getting Married at St Anthony’s
We are delighted that you have chosen to celebrate the sacrament of marriage in our Church. These notes explain everything you need to arrange, and in what order.
The Marriage Schedule
You must give Notice of Marriage at the Register Office and bring us the Marriage Schedule. Without this document the wedding cannot take place.
Marriage Preparation Day
Required. Held at Holy Family, Langley — or contact Marriage Care if those dates are inconvenient.
Fees
£350 for the Church and £90 for the Registrar to attend. Payable at the meeting to arrange your wedding day.
How to arrange your wedding
Please work through these in order — the Church cannot complete your paperwork until the civil steps are done.
- 1Contact the Registrar of Marriages
You must contact the Registrar for the district where you live and tell them you wish to give Notice of your Marriage. For Slough: The Curve, Wellington Street, Slough · 01753 787600 · slough.gov.uk. Ask them which documents to bring, and note there is a charge. - 2Collect your Marriage Schedule
At your appointment the Registrar records the details that appear on the Marriage Schedule. Collect it from the Register Office and give it to us at the Church. - 3Provide your certificates
If you are Catholic: a recent Baptismal Certificate, dated within 6 months of your wedding day — the parish where you were baptised can provide it.
If you are not Catholic: a letter from one of your parents stating whether you were baptised, and that you have never been married before. - 4Attend a Marriage Preparation Day
Held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 226 Trelawney Avenue, Langley. Forms and dates are on holyfamilylangley.co.uk under Births and Marriages; a copy of the form is also available from our Parish Office. If those dates are inconvenient, contact Marriage Care on 0800 389 3801 to find a local centre. - 5Book your meeting with the Parish Office
Once your certificates or letters are ready and we have your Marriage Schedule, contact the Parish Office to complete the remaining paperwork and go through the marriage ceremony. The fees are payable at this meeting.
Extra useful information
- ♪
- 📷Photography
You are welcome to take photographs and video throughout the ceremony, and to use the church grounds afterwards. Most couples arrange their own photographer. - 🌼Flowers
We do not provide flowers, but a lady in the Parish can help for a small charge. Most couples arrange their own florist to decorate the Church. - ✦Confetti
May be used outside the Church — please keep it away from the front doors and the Narthex.
Ready to begin?
There is no online form for marriage — the paperwork must be completed in person once the civil steps are done. Please contact the Parish Office to make your appointment.
