A Heartfelt Celebration: St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Tea Party for Seniors

As part of the 60th Jubilee Celebration of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, a special Tea Party for Seniors was held in The Crypt last 5th October 2024 from 3PM. This event was not just a social gathering, but a tribute to the senior parishioners who have shown unwavering loyalty, support, and love for the parish throughout the years. It was a chance to honour their contributions and celebrate their place in the church’s long history.

The event was graced by Fr. Nathaniel, who shared a touching message with the seniors. He spoke about the vital role they have played in the life of the parish, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for their many years of dedication. His words acknowledged the wisdom and experience of the senior parishioners, and how their faithful service has helped shape the church into what it is today.

We were also thrilled and grateful to our wonderful residents and talented guest performers, Catherine Hayes and Finbar Egwuatu, whose singing and saxophone playing truly added to the significance of the event.

A Time for Reflection and Bonding

One of the most meaningful aspects of the Tea Party was the opportunity for seniors to reconnect with each other. It was an afternoon filled with reminiscing, it was a celebration of the friendships and bonds that have formed over the years. For many of the seniors, this was a rare chance to gather, laugh, and recall the shared experiences that have strengthened their ties to the parish. Their conversations were filled with laughter and joy, as they looked back on the countless moments that have defined their lives within the church.

The Efforts Behind the Scenes

The success of the Tea Party was due in large part to the hard work of the committee members, heads, and volunteers. From preparing the venue to serving tea and cakes, their dedication was evident in every detail. The Crypt was beautifully decorated, with charming tea sets and fresh flowers creating a welcoming atmosphere for the seniors. The volunteers made sure that every guest felt comfortable and appreciated, demonstrating the true spirit of service that is central to the parish.

Special thanks were given to all those who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was not only enjoyable but also memorable. Their efforts were a reflection of the close-knit and caring community that defines St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

A Day to Cherish

The Tea Party was a deeply meaningful event, not just for the seniors but for the entire parish. It was a day to honour those who have given so much to the church, while also celebrating the enduring sense of community that has grown over the years. As the seniors shared memories and enjoyed each other’s company, it was clear that this event was about more than just tea and cakes—it was about acknowledging the lasting impact they have had on the parish.

As the day came to a close, the seniors left with smiles on their faces, their hearts full of fond memories. This celebration was a fitting tribute to their lifelong dedication, and a reminder of the important role they continue to play in the church’s future.
